Hunting pocket knives have been in use since the late 18th century. Pocket knives were carried not only by hunters, but by richer towns folk for extra protection. Anyone having folding pocket knives were from the upper crust. The first pocket knives weren't very fancy but they could do the job.
As the years past hunting pocket knives were more available to the towns folk and were carried as casually as a watch. Again, pocket knives have always been useful, but now pocket knives were becoming a proud item to have with you every day.
